From his page on Facebook, Wesley Sneijder, after last night’s outburst against the Cagliari fans who directed whistles and chants of racism towards Samuel Eto’o in the Cagliari-Inter match, now adjusts the shot taken at the Sardinian people. The outburst yesterday was understandable, as the Dutchman has been keen to these stories of racism, but should be made without absolute generalization. It is fair to blame the idiots that started these gestures, but with the knowledge that the vast majority of the Sardinian people behaved civilly, even applauding after the brief suspension of the match. Sneijder’s words are clear in this regard: “I know that not all Cagliari fans are against Eto’o because they know that Samuel is a great person. I have always liked Sardinia and its people, and I have always been at their disposal, I even dedicated my goal to a Sardinian boy who died. I was very happy with this gesture, and I trust that the feeling is mutual. I have never liked racist whistles, and I did not enjoy them yesterday. Regards, Wesley.”
